Education New Zealand (ENZ) of the New Zealand Embassy in Thailand invites English teachers nationwide to submit a video clip in English on the topic “What inspired you to become an English teacher and how can you become an inspirational teacher to your students?”. Thirty shortlisted teachers will win a scholarship worth 40,000 baht per scholarship to attend an an online “New Zealand Global Competence Certificate (NZGCC) and English Teacher Training programme.” This programme aims to improve your English language proficiency and teaching skills and equip you with global citizenship skills conducted by Massey University, one of the world’s leading universities in New Zealand. All participating teachers will receive a certificate of participation from Education New Zealand and a great exposure and opportunity to mingle and learn virtually with teachers from Vietnam and Japan.

Ms. Chortip Pramoolpol, Country Director (Thailand) of Education New Zealand, New Zealand Embassy, Bangkok, said New Zealand focuses on the importance of developing the potential of teachers and educators because it plays an important role in the development of education. ENZ has developed an online training programme on the topic of “New Zealand Global Competence Certificate (NZGCC) and English Teacher Training programme” to give English teachers the opportunity to improve their English language skills, being equipped with global citizenship mindset and working with people of different cultures, sharing experiences and learning about New Zealand’s educational and cultural system through the project. Teachers will also gain tips and teaching techniques from New Zealand’s practical teaching and learning styles too.
“The New Zealand Global Competence Certificate and English Teacher Training program is an online training course in which 30 selected Thai teachers will team up teachers from Japan and Vietnam to learn more about skills needed in global and intercultural environment as well as fostering their communication skills in English. This programme is developed by the AFS Intercultural Programmes and the training will be taught by qualified facilitators from Massey University, New Zealand.” Ms. Chorthip said.
And Ms. Chortip added that those who can enter for the contest must be the school English teachers regardless of the teaching level. However, the contest is only open Thai nationality. They have to submit a 90-second video clip introducing themselves in English under the topic of “What inspired you to become an English teacher and how can you become an inspirational teacher to your students?” 30 selected teachers will be eligible to win a scholarship to attend a five week training programme worth 40,000 baht per scholarship. Classes start every Wednesday and Friday from 11 October to 14 November 2021 from 01.00 – 2.30 PM. (The schedule is subject to change without notice.)
